Is there a way in the Mikrotik to limit the number of TCP/IP connections on a
per-client basis?

Also wondering if their is a way for the Mikrotik to work without masquerade. I
think having it appear that all traffic is coming from one address may be
overloading the TCP/IP buffer on our satellite link.

Hi there! I have no idea. I am not from Mikrotik, I just
have one of their router boards I'm trying out myself. I am
thinking of going over to a serverbased alternative.

Hmm. Not sure about this. Good question, though. If we don't get
an answer pretty quick, why don't you post it to the forum?

Of course there is a way to do it. Not sure if there is a way to
make that work on your network. If you have enough IP addresses for
your customer base, then certainly there is a way to makek MikroTik
route.

Use connection-limit property (appeared in 2.8.5). See
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs2.8/ip/firewall.main for a description and an
example.
